Set Your Tivos

For those of you who thought these late nights were all over, guess again. This from Boston.com

Red Sox dancer and closer Jonathan Papelbon will be in New York this afternoon to tape an appearance for tonight's episode of the “Late Show with David Letterman” on WBZ-TV (Ch. 4, CBS) at 11:30 p.m. It's unlikely that the appearance will pass without Letterman demanding that Papelbon perform his Irish jig onstage.

The Dropkick Murphys are not scheduled to appear on Letterman tonight, but actor/comedian David Spade and magician/comedians Penn and Teller are also on the docket.

On Friday night, the suddenly outspoken Manny Ramirez is slated to appear on the "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on WHDH-TV (Ch. 7, NBC) at 11:30 p.m. The Backstreet Boys are also scheduled to appear. No word on whether Manny plans to sing or dance along with the group.

Later on Friday night, David Ortiz is scheduled to appear on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," also on Ch. 7 at 12:30 p.m. Comedian Jerry Seinfeld is set to appear on the program with Big Papi.

Watch Out For Gillooly Tom!

Michael Wilbon, a respected Washington Post columnist and co-host of my favorite ESPN show Pardon the Interruption has lost it. In a online chat when asked about the Patriots "running up the score" (which is way out of contol) he said this craziness!

"if I was on the opposing team, I'd hit Tom Brady with everything I had as late as I could and take the penalty and join the fight that would surely follow. Football is a violent game and there's got to be somebody out there sharpening his fangs for the Patriots Golden Boy in the 4th quarter one of these weeks."

Wow! Is all I can say, Wow! This quote by Wilbon has now caused someone to make this funny anti-Patriot song, which is not so funny around here.

The Helix 2.6 - The Week That Heroes Grew a Pair

Posted on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at 09:25AM by Registered CommenterMatt Dursin in | CommentsPost a Comment | EmailEmail | PrintPrint

Héros sans signification Trivia de la semaine - How's that international flavor for you?  Dursin always aims to please.  So, the trivia.  Well According to IMDB, which has been wrong before, Claire's long-forgotten friend, Zach, was supposed to be gayer than a three dollar bill, and his coming out and dealing with that was supposed to mirror Claire's dealing with her newfound abilities (much like Iceman's "coming out" to his parents as a mutant in X-men 2, directed by Bryan Singer, who is also gay).  When Thomas Dekkar's (whom played Zach) manager learned of this, she thought that playing a gay character would affect his chances of snagging the role of John Connor on Fox's The Sarah Connor Chronicles.  Things got crazy, and Dekkar was eventually pulled from the show.  he did get the part on Chronicles, so it all worked out in the end for everyone, except the rightfully upset Zach fans, if there were any.

So, happy Halloween everyone.  I know a lot of peeps here in Boston got their free taco yesterday, but a friend of mine just gave me a Qdoba gift card for Halloween, so I'll be getting mine today (and I have to say, Taco Bell is compost compared to Qdoba.)

So, I had been working long and hard (well, in my head) on a post about how Heroes on the whole was a very "safe" show that never really went for the jugular, especially the main goodies, like Claire, Hiro and Peter.  I think that's why I thought Isaac and HRG were so cool, because they actually showed some guts and some real human emotion.  Most of these guys were pretty vanilla, and let's face it, that's not very realistic.  We're all people, and deep down, we're all just tortured spazzes.  Well, I had to throw that whole thing out the window because, this week, we finally get to see some blood and guts on this show, and from those same main goodies.  Hiro snogged another man's woman, Claire used some nefarious means (and her powers) to bully her way onto the cheer leading team, and Peter vowed to avenge that Irish guy who got fried by Veronica Mars last week.  This is what the show needs, especially  this season, when they can't get by on the whole "Wowza!  I've got powers!" schtick anymore.  The writers need to create conflict now with the characters that they molded last season.  This week, they started doing that.

First, we have Claire, who was told that she wasn't "extraordinary" enough to be on the cheer leading team (maybe it was her choice of cheer.  I mean, recycling?  I'm all for the environment, but I don't see that one rallying the team.)  So, she used her conniving ways, invulnerability and West to get that witch-ay woman booted for drinking on campus and for generally being a mean person.  My only bugaboo with this is that I thought she was just telling her father that she was trying out for cheer leading so she and West could have time for more flying make-out sessions.  I didn't know she was actually doing it.  Maybe West begged her to do it so he could see her in the outfit.  Whatever, that guy's a tool, anyway, and he's apparently whipped, so that makes me hate him even more.  Although, when your girlfriend is invulnerable, i guess you have no choice to be whipped.  What can you possibly do to her, right?

Moving on, Hiro expressed his love for Yaeko, and vice versa, it seems, much to the chagrin of Kensei, who saw them kissing in the woods.  I feel, ya, bud.  Who among us haven't been there?  A guy from 400 years in the future with the power to move through time and space stealing a kiss from the very woman that he set you up with?  It's Romeo and Juliet all over again.  On the other hand, though, Hiro is making time with a chick who, from his perspective, is long dead.  Boy, time travel sure wreaks havoc on one's love life, don't it?  Anyway, in the end, Kensei got his licks in, punching Hiro dead in the face and turning him over to White Beard, who promised him anything he wants in return.  I expected him to ask for a keg, but I guess we'll have to wait until next week to find out what he wished for.

peter, as I mentioned in past columns, has been getting more bad-ass as the weeks have gone on.  Maybe it's the Irish air.  His quest for vengeance begins in Montreal (where all quests for vengeance begin), where he finds a note from some Adam Monroe dude, who obviously has some connection with The Company.  We then got another glimpse into the future, and it was a burnt out and abandoned Times Square (Yeesh, I knew that were cleaning it up, but that was ridiculous.  At least Wicked was still playing.  I bet it's easy to get tickets.)  I'm betting that it has something to do with the plague that Mohinder mentioned, and that's probably the disaster that has to be avoided this season.  There's always something...

A lot of other stuff happened as well, as this was probably the fullest episode so far this season.  We saw Sylar get all Darth Vader on Maya, convincing ehr to use her powers to get what she wants.  Ah the timeless art of seduction.  We saw HRG kickin' it old skool, killing his mentor, which is also kind of Vader-esque (BTW, I know I've seen that Ivan guy before.  If anyone knows that actor's name and what else he's been in, give me a holler.)  What I want to know is how a heroine-addled beatnik painter's work ended up in a garage in Ukraine.  And we saw Mohinder take a stand against the evil Bob, who looks about as menacing as my grandmother.  Mohinder also got hooked up with Niki, who is obviously in her sinister mode this week, because she's wearing black.

So, they've laid some serious groundwork for the rest of the season with allusions to higher powers and plagues and twisted love stories.  It will certainly be interesting to see how it all ties together.  Until next time, Panettierians...

Celtics Season Preview

Posted on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at 06:25PM by Registered CommenterAaron Gettings in | CommentsPost a Comment | EmailEmail | PrintPrint

An old man once told me, "Two stars gets you the playoffs, three gets you the trophy".  He also kept calling me "Johnny" and trying to touch my thigh, so I didn't stick around to see what other eggs of knowledge he had for me.  Regardless, those words stuck with me, and resonate today as we stare down the 2007-2008 NBA Season.

You've all probably read at least 10-12 Celtics Season Previews so far, ranging from "With the new Big Threelogo.gif the Celtics are locked in for the finals" to "Despite the Big Three, Rondo and Perkins aren't good enough for the Celtics to go anywhere" to "The Big Three are so old, their limbs will probably fall off mid-season.  I don't see them winning 30 games".  We'll try not to rehash the same crap you've read before (no promises), so sit down, grab a nice Pumpkin-Mocha Frappuccino from Starbucks and let's see what Aaron thinks of this new band of Celtics.

I don't think you can start a Celtics preview without talking about "The Big Three 2.0",  Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce (unless you begin with an old man trying to caress your thigh, which is far funnier in my opinion).  To be honest, I wasn't onboard with the whole Kevin Garnett deal (pre and post ping-pong debacle).  I was firmly entrenched in the "Al Jefferson Is Our Savior" camp. This has been beaten to death repeatedly so I won't dwell on it, but the main crux of my argument was that Al, talent-wise, was close to KG, but a whole lot younger, and I didn't want to rent a championship.  When we finally hoisted that 17th banner, I wanted it to be CELTICS raising that flag, not some mercenaries we brought in.

Well, as I've stated before, I'm an idiot.  I don't know what it is, but Ray and Kevin FEEL LIKE CELTICS.  It might be all the media attention -- with them being shoved in our faces for the past 4 months -- but they don't feel foreign.  They fit in, they belong.  I like them here, and I hope they have a nice stay.

Now, let's look at these guys individually:

KG:  One of the best talents in the game.  Finally has some players to ease the load.  Anything short of an MVP-type season would be unexplainable.

pierce_back500326.jpgPaul Pierce:  I touched on this in my last column, but he worries me a bit.  There have been times during the preseason where Pierce becomes the guy in the pickup game who isn't getting passed to, so whenever he touches the ball he just heaves up a shot no matter where he is on the court, even if he's triple-teamed.  I call it the "F-you" play.  It only happens maybe 2-4 times a game, but it almost always ends in a terrible shot or a turnover.  My concern isn't so much that it'll cost us a game (Pierce is far too savvy to do that) but that it'll turn into an Alpha Dog battle later in the year if KG (or Ray) decide to get in Pierce's face about it.  I'll be keeping an eye on this all year... and it may end up being nothing... but it's in the back of my mind.  Beyond that, I expect Pierce to have a great season (SI predicted him to be the MVP Runner-Up), his FG% should be at an all-time high, and I think he's going to be the guy who makes this whole team work.

Ray Allen:  I love Ray Allen's game.  He doesn't force much, nor does he stand out -- he lets the game comeray%20allen.jpg to him, and with silent-efficiency destroys the other team.  He's going to win us a ton of games without anyone realizing it.  When KG gets doubled, or a defender strays to stop Pierce from driving, Ray Allen is the guy who is going to make them pay.  He'll get his 18-20 points, knock down a few big shots, and will be the most reliable safety valve we've had in years.

Rajon Rondo:  I don't see a single reason why Rajon Rondo should detract from this Celtics team.  The big, universal knock on him is that rondo.jpghe lacks the experience to run with the Big Three.  I disagree (not that he's inexperienced, but that it will matter -- just wanted to clarify).  Here's what we need Rondo to do:  Take care of the ball, hit the open man and shut down his man on D.  He'll not only be fine, he'll be outstanding.  So far this preseason he's shown that he can finish around the rim, he's able to beat anybody and everybody off the dribble -- and when the D collapses he's had no problem hitting the open man.  Plus, he's been an absolute pest on the defensive end.  He'll need to play a ton of minutes, but not only does he NOT worry me, I'm excited to have him running the point.

Kendrick Perkins:  It's amazing to see how far Perk has come in the past few years.  What once seemed like nothing more than a big body to eat up some minutes has developed into quite a skillful starter.  Are there holes in his game?  Absolutely.  He still fouls too much, and I don't know how he's going to handle some of the larger centers in the league.  Beyond that, he looks great on the offensive end.  He and KG make possibly the best passing front court in the league.  He's developed a few low-post moves beyond whipping the ball at the backboard, and can put the ball down nicely (which should come in handy because he's going to get 4-5 wide open looks a game).  More than anything, we just need him to stay out of foul trouble and stay on the court --- you got that Perkins?  S-T-A-Y O-N T-H-E C-O-U-R-T---- !!!

Now let's discuss what I like to refer to as "The Bench":

We're not exactly shallow here, but we're not deep either - If this was a pool I'd say we're right around the 5' mark where some people are able to touch the bottom and some need to hang back.

James Posey:  Posey is going to be huge for us.  He's long, he's a banger, he's aggressive and he's smart.  He can knock down 3's, he can rebound and he can play the 3 positions.

Scot Pollard:  This man, whether we like it or not, is the key to our season.  All we need him to do is to be onpollard.JPG the court for a few brief spurts every game, and we're golden.  We don't even need him to be productive.  All we need is for him to be on the court and not be terrible.  You got that Pollard?  Just play, and don't suck!

Eddie House:  He's a gunner who may knock down a few big shots for us, but don't expect much.  He was supposed to be our backup point, but after the preason Doc said that he prefers having Tony Allen bringing up the ball over House.   Do you need to know anything else?

Tony Allen:  It's going to take a few weeks (possibly months) but Tony Allen will eventually return to post-knee surgery -- pre-second knee surgery form from last season.  Once he gets back there, he'll be our shutdown defender, energy/scoring off the bench and high-flying crowd pleaser.  We're not there yet... he looked rusty and timid at times during the preseason and the only cure for that is time... he'll get there, though.  He needs too if he wants a big contract after the season is over!

Glen Davis:  Not sure how much playing time he'll get, but the man has some ability.  He's strong, quick, has great footwork and a decent mid-range jumper.  He'll get more than his share of DNP's early on, but he'll eventually be a beast off our bench.

powe.jpgLeon Powe:  He, on the other hand, will get plenty of opportunities to get his butt off the bench.  He's tough, consistent, and will always be that.  Won't put up big numbers, will play solid D, grab a few boards and be will do whatever he needs to to help us win.

Brian Scalabrine:  He is what he is.. I'm not the biggest fan, but winning teams have players like him.  I wish we weren't paying him so much, but every once in a while Scal has the ability to come up big: knock down a huge shot, grab a rebound, come up with a loose ball, etc... He's that guy for us, and like it or not, we need him.

Gabe Pruitt & Brandon Wallace:  Maybe next year.  I like them both, but barring any major injuries they won't find themselves on the parquet much.

I saved the best for last:

Doc Rivers:  You know how little kids will wake up in the middle of the night, terrified because tdoc.jpghey heard something tap on their window, or they saw a shadow in their closet or think something is under the bed?  Well, I do the same exact thing... except I wake up in the middle of the night terrified and sweaty because Doc Rivers is our coach!  I've written about him before, we all know what he's capable of doing (take that how you will), so I won't point out his many, many, many, many, many flaws.  If I'm wrong (and let us all bow our heads and pray that I am), I'll be the first to admit it... but I just don't see Doc Rivers coaching an NBA Champion.  Our talent alone will get us to the postseason, but our coaching is what might delay our banner raising.

If anyone is still reading this, thanks for sticking with me.  I'll be writing about the C's fairly regularly here over the next few months (hopefully in not so many words) and I'm just so damn excited to watch my first love be relevant again.  Let's Go Celtics!

Is this the NFL, or Pop Warner?

Posted on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at 01:06PM by Registered CommenterJustin Keating in | Comments1 Comment | EmailEmail | PrintPrint

In a league among men, the fans are starting to act like complete babies.  I sometimes wonder if this world is going straight down in common sense, and these instances don't help.

For the love of God people, it's football.  "Running up the score" shouldn't even be a term.  "Playing hard for 60 minutes" should be.

Of course, we all know about the dismantling of the Pariots' opponents over the first 8 weeks.  And by now, we know the sheer jealousy of fans around the league.  But I don't even think that it stems to jealousy: I think there are people that actually feel BAD for the players that they get blown out.  Or they feel bad for the fans.  I'll tell you one thing, I'd feel for the players if anything.  I can't imagine how a practice after a 52-7 beatdown goes.

But I don't feel bad.  Listen, this is sports.  This certainly isn't kindergarten soccer, where they don't keep score, and everyone gets a crappy trophy at the end.  This is the NFL, if you haven't noticed.  Why are we so worried about everyone's feelings?  These are men, that are supposed to practice and play hard.  Not only that, you can't even blame a small market concept in spending because of the salary cap.  You cannot feel bad for these guys.  This is their job.  And when I have a bad day on the job, I don't get to leave in my Escalade and roll around in my big pile of money.

Let's put this into perspective: The Pats won last week 52-7, as mentioned above, vs. the Redskins.  On September 22nd, the Ohio State Buckeyes beat Northwestern 58-7.  What is the difference in these 2 games?

People get angry at the Pats for winning by so much.  People drool over Ohio State having a "potent offense", and consider them "a BCS threat."  In college, you are rewarded for blowing peopl out, and it is encouraged by the system.  But noooooo, we can't blow out the poor Redskins.  Santana Moss might cry.

People are so jealous they are even making excuses.  "You haven't even played any good teams yet!"  Well then I guess the Colts and Pats are the only good teams, because I wouild certainly put the Cowboys and Chargers in the list right them.   Best team the Colts have faced is Jacksonville.  And that team had Quinn Gray at QB most of the day.  We have played the current best team in the NFC, as well as a preseason favorite to win the Super Bowl.

People cry we are in a weak division.  Well, we only played 3 division games so far, what happened on the other 5?

The worst deal of this all turns my stomach, to say the least.  Many fans are now hoping Brady to get hurt.  So the proper recourse to playing the game to your ability is to critically injure another human being.  It must be nice to be so uncaring and no regard to others.  How would you like it if your kid played hard every day, and some coach or fan convinced an opponent to purposely hurt your son?  Purposely hurting him to put him out, and to greatly affect his life?  Those of you calling for Brady to get injured not only are scum of the world, but your karma is going down the toilet as well.

Would I ever wish Peyton Manning a serious injury?  Of course not.  Listen, it is a rivalry.  You get amped up, and you can say someone "sucks", but it stops with people targeting to injure people.  Peyton is a good guy, he doesn't deserve to get hurt because of the uniform he wears.  If nothing else, who wants to beat Jim Sogri's Colts?  Having great games against Peyton and Co. is amazing to watch.  Win or lose, I am entertained as a football fan.  Same goes for baseball.  I can say "Jeter sucks!" but first of all, he a) doesn't and b) it doesn't mean I wish bodily harm to the man.  Just go 0-4.  I dont want to see him maimed.

This is sports, people.  It is meant to be played 2 ways: hard, and fair.  Pats are playing hard, you don't want to play fair.

Keep Mike Lowell Petition

Posted on Monday, October 29, 2007 at 06:08PM by Registered CommenterScott (CEO) in | CommentsPost a Comment | EmailEmail | PrintPrint

Someone has started a petition to keep World Series MVP and fan favoite Mike Lowell. ws4mvp.jpg

To:  Larry Lucchino, John Henry, Tom Werner, Theo Epstein, and the rest of the Boston Red Sox Staff

First of all, we would like to take the time and congratulate you all and the team for a great post-season run culminating in another World Series championship! As members of Red Sox Nation, we could not be any more proud and pleased with the job well done. So again, we thank you all!

Now as we look past the 2007 season and into the 2008 season there is one thing that is very much on the mind of Red Sox Nation: the re-signing of Mike Lowell.

We want him back at the hot corner of third base, hitting fifth or sixth (or honestly, wherever manger Terry Francona would like him to hit), blasting doubles off of the Green Monster, and just being the great player and person he has been for years to come.

If it has not been clear yet, we of Red Sox Nation want him back as our third baseman for those years to come.

While it may be very obvious, let us quickly lay out the statistics for the past two seasons:
•In 2006: .284 AVG, .339 OBP, .475 SLG, 20 HR, and 80 RBI
•In 2007: .324 AVG, .378 OBP, .501 SLG, 21 HR, and 120 RBI (a team high in RBIs).

These statistics show that Mike Lowell has elevated his game since his coming to Boston. In the perspective of Red Sox Nation, he has been the team MVP the entire 2007 season. He delivered for the team when the team needed something big to happen. Mike Lowell has been "a clutch player" this entire season.

However, this past post-season, he has taken things to another level:
•2007 Post-Season: .353 AVG, .410 OBP, .608 SLG, 2 HR, and 16 RBI
•In all but two games, he has had at least a hit.
•In the World Series alone, his stats: .400 AVG, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 3 walks, and 6 runs.
•Last but definitely not least, he was named the World Series MVP.

While these are just the batting statistics, lets us not forget how great of a glove he fields out at third base. Mike Lowell is a Gold Glove winning fielder and an award like that does not come easy. Also, let us not forget he is a 4 time All-Star team selection (1 AL, 3 NL).

But let us simply “forget the sabermetrics” and simply look at what makes Mike Lowell so important to Red Sox Nation. He is a quiet, hard-working player who goes day-in and day-out giving it his all without looking for attention. He is a consummate professional and a leader in the clubhouse. Last but not least, he is a class act as a person and as a baseball player.

Red Sox Nation could not see our beloved Fenway Park’s third base occupied by anybody else but Mike Lowell. We urge you to re-sign Mike Lowell and the process of doing so your top priority this off-season.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

Break the Games Down: World Series, Game 4

Wow.  What a night.  I admit, it doesn't compare to 2004, but this is still pretty freaking good.  It felt great to ws4globe2.jpgend it too, as my sleep patterns hate me right now.  It is a great week for Boston sports: Sox win the Series Sunday, Celtics open up a potential dream season Friday, and we hopefully see that Pats solidify their status on top of the NFL kingdom this Sunday.  More on that in these bullet points:

1.  I am going to be in the minority on this one: I don't care if A-Rod announced his opting out during the World Series.  Listen, he didn't go on national television to do it.  It is up to the media to address those things at certain times.  Yes, I know A-Rod knew what he was doing, but did it ruin anything for you when it came to the Sox celebration?  If it did, be ashamed.

2.  I am now even going more in the minority: If Lowell wants more years, I want A-Rod.  Say about him what you want, but this is the best player in baseball.  Period.  This is an even better situation for him because he doesn't have to be "The Man."  There is a really good chance he winds up in a Sox uniform, especially if they figure Lowell is out of their range.  We could see an amazing turn of events next year.  Now excuse me, I need to go puke in a bucket.

3.  I see the Patriots winning on Sunday, and it will go one of two ways: we blow the Colts out, and the world praises us as scary-good, or it is close, and everyone debates all year if we are beatable.  I am personally hoping (and leaning towards) a blowout, simply so we can strike fear into opponents.  Then maybe Easterbrook will just off himself in fear.  We can only hope.

4.  C's on Friday.  Can't wait.  I will be sure to have my reaction to the whole experience.  I am even bringing a little notepad to remember stuff.  Aren't I so responsible??

5.  I cannot wait until Heroes tonight.  I have a feeling that the girl HRG saw in the painting of him dead is Kristin Bell, but I think it would be a great story to have it be Claire.  I want Claire just to do an old fashioned heel turn or something.  Like, attack HRG with a ski mask on, only to reveal her deception.  Then Vince McMahon can scream "Oh my God! That's...that's Claire!  What is going on here?"  Yes, this is what I think about.  Early nineties wrestling heel turns and it's affect on television drama.  That is a thesis for you.

6.  I alluded yesterday that I would make a case for who I thought should be MVP.  That man is Mister 58 himself, Jon Papelbon.  He came into 3 games with the score 2-1, 9-5, and 4-3.  He has never pitched in the World Series before, and has gave up zero earned runs.  The kid did everything asked of him, and did it with brilliance.  I can't disagree much with the decision of Lowell, but I really think Pap deserved it.  I am sure you won;t hear him complain though.  Probably because his head is under a beer box still somewhere.

On to the final awards of this postseason:

Man Who Most Affected the Outcome of the Match Up (Player of the Game): John Lester

Lester pitched above and beyond what was asked of him.  I figured a couple of runs, getting to the 6th inning, and we could be in prime position.  Instead, he pitched shut out ball, and looked as confident as ever.  Funny that this happens when a year ago he was still recovering from cancer treatment.  Just a great feel good story on the 23 year old.

Man who Negatively Affected His Team the Most (Goat of the Game): Troy Tulowitzki

Brad Hawpe couldn't pull off the trifecta of suckitude, so I am going with "Tulo."  Speaking of which, is there a ws4bk.jpgmore emasculating nickname in all of sports?  I mean, what if they called Karl Malone "The Metermaid"?

Anyway, "Tulo" sucked all World Series, and multiple strikeouts put him in this slot.  The Rockies were supposed to showcase their talent this Series, and instead made themselves look like crap.  Only Holliday came out unscathed.

Best Occurrence between the First Pitch and Last Out (Play of the Game): BO-BBY-KIEL-TY! *clap, clap, clap clap clap*

Sorry, had to rag on Butchy Sterns for trying to get that going.  But anyway, that homerun proved to be the difference,  and it is plays like this that just shows what a team effort this World Series was.  Kielty came off cold, swinging at the first pitch, and just mashed that ball.  Good for him.  I would love to have him around on the bench for a while.

And so ends my series of articles on the Red Sox playoffs.  Thanks to CEO Scott for asking me personally to do this.  It is a big responsibility, and one I did not take lightly.  I hope you all enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed writing them.  I will be back soon with another piece, so you won't have to miss me too long.

This was my favorite moment of the night. Don Orsillo interviews the classy Tim Wakefield, when Mike Timlin steps in and has a touching moment talking about how Wake gave himself up for the team.

Last night during game 4 of the World Series, the A-rod show broke out. Well the best baseball man around, ESPN's Peter Gammons, takes some great shots at A-rod for it. I love it!

Here are 2 fantastic videos from Boston.com. The first has a different angle on the celebration and my favorite part where Sox fans are chanting "Resign Lowell"

The second one is a playoff tribute with  the music of Bruce Springsteen.
